Request to rehome a dog

We understand that circumstances can change and sometimes it’s necessary for people to rehome their beloved pets.

Our Rescue Centre Is Full!

We are unable to accept any further requests to rehome pets and strays until further notice.

We are facing unprecedented pressure to help the cats and dogs in our local community, and currently have 70+ animals in our care and simply cannot take in any more.

We are a small team who try our best every day to help wherever we can, and have not made this decision lightly.

If you need help rehoming your pet, then please consider rehoming privately, via petrehomer.org.

You can contact other rescues in your local area to see if they can help, but we are aware that all rescues are under the same immense pressure as us at this time.

We wish you all the best and hope that you find the solution you are looking for.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Request to Rehome

Here at Rain Rescue, we are dedicated to helping the animals who need us most.

Times are really hard at the moment with the cost of Living Crisis, and post Covid. There are more people wanting to rehome their pet, than there are good homes out there and for that reason, animal rescue centres may not be able to help all who need it.

At the moment, we are limiting our help to the South Yorkshire area as this is an area of high cruelty and neglect and so many need our help.

If you need to rehome your dog, and are in the South Yorkshire area, then please complete the request to rehome form below and one of our team will be in touch.

We also promote www.Petrehomer.org which is a charity supporting people to rehome their dog themselves which maybe a better option than kennels.

Timescale

We are a small, local centre, caring for up to 8 dogs at any one time. We work closely with each dog to help them find their ideal new home as soon as possible. Therefore, we operate a waiting list and ask that you contact us at the earliest possible opportunity. The time it takes to secure a rescue space is dependant on both the urgency of need and the available space at our centre.

Home Direct Rehoming Service

Home Direct Rehoming is an alternative way to rehome your dog through us, without them coming into our kennel environment. This allows them to stay at home in your care whilst we work hard to match them with a new family. We will take a detailed history, assess your dog and advertise them on our website, as we do with the dogs staying at our centre.

The service can be really beneficial for your dog, as it minimises their stress by going from one loving home directly into another. It can sometimes be a quicker process, as you don’t have to wait for a kennel space to become available at our centre. It also means a kennel is then free for the next dog that urgently needs our help.

If you would like more information on our Home Direct Service, then please discuss this option with a member of our team today.

Don’t abandon your pet

Please don’t abandon your pet, it can be extremely dangerous and leaves their fate unknown. It also means that they may enter a rescue with no history, making it even harder to find them a loving home. NEVER advertise your pet as free to a good home.

We also recommend contacting Blue Cross Sheffield on 03007 771591 to discuss other rehoming options.
