Woof… hello there. I’m Ruby 🐾

I’m an 8 year and 10 month old Jackapom, and I’ve been told I’ve completely melted the hearts of everyone here at the rescue kennel. I don’t know what I did exactly… I just try my best to make sure no one ever feels lonely again. Mission accomplished, I think.

I’m a very loving little lady. Like, very. I adore people—any people. If you’ve got hands for fussing, I’ve got time for you. I’ll lean in, follow you around, and politely (or not so politely) remind you that I am available for cuddles at all times. Some might call it “needy”… I call it “efficient love distribution.”

Now, I should be honest with you. The kennel staff say I’m a bit of a chunky lady. I overheard them talking about “diet” and “health” and “zoomies without getting tired halfway through,” which honestly sounded like they had my best interests at heart… even if I’m not fully on board with fewer snacks just yet. I do love my food. A lot. Possibly more than is medically recommended. But I am trying, because they say it will help me feel better, move easier, and enjoy life more—and I do want that.

The kennel team are still getting to know me, so they’ll be updating my profile as they learn more about my little quirks and preferences. For now, they think I could possibly live with another dog or even a cat, as long as introductions are done slowly, carefully, and properly so everyone feels safe and happy. I quite like the idea of having a friend… as long as they don’t judge my snack enthusiasm.

If there are children in the home, the team feel I would be best suited to children aged 10 and over, so I can enjoy a calmer environment and everyone can understand my gentle, affectionate ways.

What I really want is a home. A cosy one. With humans who don’t mind a little shadow following them everywhere. A home that will help me keep on track with my health, give me gentle walks, and celebrate my progress with me (preferably with praise… or healthy treats… I can learn).

In return, I promise you endless love, companionship, and a warm little body who will always be happy to see you—even if you’ve only been gone for thirty seconds.

So if you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate, slightly round but very charming companion… I think I might just be your girl.
