Help Us Be There When Animals Need Us Most

Every animal that comes through RAIN’s doors has a story. Some arrive needing urgent veterinary treatment, while others have been abandoned and left with nowhere else to turn.

Right now, animals in our care are relying on us for food, comfort, veterinary treatment and the chance of a better future.

Today, we want to introduce you to some of our latest rescues: Poppy, Toffee, Popcorn and Crisp.

Poppy needed urgent veterinary care

Poppy is a lovely 10-year-old Shih Tzu who came into RAIN’s care because her owner was no longer able to give her the time and care she needed.

As with every animal who arrives at our animal rescue, Poppy was given a full veterinary check. Our vet discovered that she had two mammary masses, dental disease and a mild heart murmur.

We knew Poppy needed treatment quickly to give her the best possible outcome.

Poppy underwent surgery to remove both mammary masses and received much-needed dental treatment, including the extraction of four teeth. Thankfully, the masses were sent away for testing and came back as benign.

Without treatment, the masses could have become cancerous, while her dental disease would have continued to cause pain and could eventually have led to infection.

Poppy’s veterinary treatment cost RAIN around £500.

Thanks to the care she received, Poppy can now look forward to enjoying the happy and comfortable retirement she deserves.

Toffee and her kittens were abandoned

Only recently, another heartbreaking case arrived at RAIN.

Toffee, a mum cat, and her two kittens, Popcorn and Crisp, were brought to us by a member of the public after being found abandoned and dumped inside a crisp box.

Sadly, animal abandonment is happening far too often. Animals are being left frightened, vulnerable and completely reliant on someone stepping in to help them.

For Toffee, Popcorn and Crisp, that help came when they were brought to RAIN.

Now, they will receive the food, care, comfort and veterinary support they need as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
