Sue and Benny are two wonderful Shetland ponies who found their forever home at RAIN when their owner made an incredibly selfless decision. Their story is one of love, compassion and putting the animals’ needs first. Today, these gentle companions spend their days grazing peacefully, enjoying plenty of care and attention, and living the happy retirement they deserve.
Their Story
Sometimes, loving an animal means making one of the hardest decisions imaginable.
Sue and Benny’s owner found themselves needing a little extra support and, after much thought, made the brave decision to ask RAIN for help. It wasn’t a decision made lightly—it came from a place of love and a desire to ensure the ponies would always receive the care they deserved.
At RAIN, we know that life doesn’t always go to plan. Circumstances can change, and caring for animals can become difficult for reasons beyond our control. That’s why we’re here—not to judge, but to support both people and their animals through every storm.
When Sue and Benny arrived, we promised they would stay together and enjoy the peaceful retirement they had earned. Their previous owner can take comfort in knowing they are safe, loved and cared for every single day.
A Peaceful Retirement
Sue and Benny are older Shetland ponies who love the quieter pace of life. You’ll often find them grazing side by side, enjoying a scratch from their carers or watching the world go by from their paddock.
Their gentle nature makes them favourites with visitors, and they remind us that every animal deserves kindness, comfort and dignity as they grow older.
Growing old shouldn’t mean being forgotten. Thanks to our supporters, Sue and Benny have everything they need to enjoy their retirement, from nutritious food and cosy shelter to regular health checks and plenty of love.
