We nearly lost Maisy. Now she needs your help.
Maisy came to RAIN for a routine procedure. Instead, we nearly lost her.
This little cat had already been through so much before she arrived at RAIN Rescue.
Maisy came into our care from a home with more than 20 cats, where we have been supporting the family with neutering to help prevent more unwanted kittens from being born.
She was brought to us to be neutered.
But when our team assessed her, it quickly became clear that Maisy was desperately unwell.
Maisy was fighting to survive
She was suffering badly with cat flu, leaving her exhausted and extremely vulnerable. She was also covered in fleas and had tapeworms.
Her little body was already struggling.
Then, while she was in our care, the unthinkable happened.
Maisy stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest.
Our veterinary team immediately began CPR and fought to bring her back.
Following everything she had been through, her owner made the difficult decision to sign her over to RAIN so that we could continue providing the veterinary treatment and care she desperately needed.
But Maisy isn't out of danger yet
Maisy is now stable, but she is still very poorly.
She needs close monitoring, ongoing veterinary treatment and lots of care while her little body begins to recover.
There is still a long road ahead of her.
And that care comes at a cost.
As a small animal rescue, unexpected veterinary emergencies can put enormous pressure on RAIN. But when an animal like Maisy needs us, we don’t want cost to decide whether they get the chance to live.
Maisy needed us. So we saved her.
Now, we need you to help us continue caring for her.
Will you help us give Maisy the chance to recover?
Your donation could help towards Maisy’s emergency veterinary bills, medication, treatment, food and the ongoing care she needs while she recovers.
£5, £10, £20 or whatever you can afford could make a real difference.
Your donation doesn’t just help pay a vet bill.
It helps give a frightened, poorly cat the time, treatment and care she needs to have a future.
£5 could help provide a meal for an animal in our care.
£10 could help provide food and everyday essentials for an animal who needs us.
£25 could help towards a night of care for an animal at RAIN.
£50 could help towards essential medication and treatment.
£100 could help towards an emergency veterinary visit when an animal needs urgent care.
